Scientific Revolution in the age of Aristotle

The Scientific Revolution defined technological and scientific innovation in various ways. One example is when a priest disagreed with the heavenly arrangement and the calendar which then encouraged him to share his ideas with the world, despite them being different from what was commonly known and agreed upon. His idea of the sun being in the center instead of the Earth was something unthinkable at the time because it went against normalcy. But his ideas helped reform the calendar which shows how it shaped human development. The Scientific Revolution also had cultural and intellectual developments such as people discovering that Aristotle was incorrect about some things. Aristotle said that the heavier an object is, the quicker it would fall. But this was proven to be false once people started experimenting with dropping different weighted balls and timing them. Culturally, the world was changed because Aristotle was now less reliable. Intellectually, more people started to perform tests and question the world around them. The Scientific Revolution defined these themes along with showing people that what was thought as the truth can be false when questioned. It encouraged everybody to question the world around them even if it meant contradicting the church.

An example of how the scientific method was used is when somebody wanted to know how to shoot cannons more accurately. Aristotle said things move in straight lines, but the cannonballs were curving. He wondered what created a curving trajectory. He found the answer from Venice canals. He then translated a book about why boats floated the way they did. The book said water changes the weight of the boat He wondered if it could happen to other things as well. This is an example of the scientific method because he observed what happened to the cannonballs and he found answers from that.
